Equipping survivors with practical skills, economic independence, and pathways to sustainable futures.
Girls and young women fleeing to Mission With a Vision have a choice about their future, and for those who do not choose to go to school, the Vocational Training Program was created to build independent and sustainable futures. Many survivors arrive at the safe house without formal education, financial resources, or family support, leaving them vulnerable to poverty, exploitation, and continued marginalization in their communities. Vocational training equips survivors with practical skills, confidence, and the ability to generate their own income. Financial independence allows survivors to support themselves, strength to challenge harmful norms, and create new pathways for the next generation.

Vocational training also creates opportunities for survivors to engage with creative industries and apply their skills in collaborative, real-world contexts. For example, textile and design workshops may introduce participants to techniques such as embroidery, dyeing, beadwork, and garment construction, allowing them to develop both technical expertise and creative expression. Through partnerships with designers, educators, and industry professionals, survivors can contribute to the creation of original pieces while gaining insight into production, branding, and entrepreneurship. These experiences not only expand economic opportunities, but also position survivors as creators whose work holds cultural and economic value.
Vocational training at Mission With A Vision reflects a long-term commitment to ensuring that survival is not the end of the journey. By investing in survivors’ skills, leadership, and economic independence, the program supports girls and young women in rebuilding their lives on their own terms. Mission With a Vision believes that survivors are not defined by the violence they escaped, but by the futures they create.
