The Safehouses

Mission With A Vision established its first safehouse in 2004 to protect girls fleeing FGM and early marriage, expanding from 12 to 32 residents by 2007. Growing demand led to a second, larger safehouse in 2013, funded by the Bushenyi Alliance for Rural Development, increasing capacity to 60 girls.

By 2019, the number of girls in need had risen to 72, prompting further expansion. In 2022, with support from Mission Direct and Mundo Corporante, a new spacious safehouse with a working farm was built on eight acres in Nairasirasa, adding space for another 60 girls. Additional support from CREAW and UNFPA in 2023 provided essential furnishings and solar power, and in 2024–2025 Mission Direct and Mundo Corporante funded a new dining hall.

Today, the House of Hope and Enkishon Farm safehouses collectively offer a safe, nurturing home for more than 120 girls, thanks to the ongoing generosity of dedicated partners and donors.

Advocacy Program

Mission With A Vision has a strong advocacy unit that works in villages and schools in the fight against FGM, child marriage and all forms of GBV.

The department has reached over 10,000 students aged 10-19 and about 2,400 adults over the last two years. In 2025 we adopted the theme “Ending FGM, Child marriage and all forms of GBV through a mindset change.”

We believe the most effective way to win the war against all forms of GBV is to change the community's perspective on the value they place on FGM. We aim to help the community understand that FGM and Child Marriage does more harm to the girls and has no real benefit. We hope to change the mindset of new generations, thus ensuring that we can end FGM, FCM, and GBV cycles.

Scholarship Program

Mission With A Vision believes that every child deserves a chance to education. Since 1997, Mission With A Vision has been providing scholarship through generous donations from our sponsors. Our dream is to change the world one girl at a time. Although we do sponsor a few boys, most of our scholarships go to rescued women and girls who are at the risk in the community. We believe that, through education, more and more girls will help create a society that is more stable and in the process not only end all forms of GBV but also eradicate poverty through empowerment of the girls.

Counseling and Call Centre

Once rescued and in a safe environment, survivors of gender-based violence need additional and specialized caresustained, accessible mental health supportto heal and  rebuild lives and futures.

On February of 2026, Mission With A Vision opened a counseling program to expand mental health and psychosocial resources available to Female Genital Mutilation and Forced Childhood Marriage survivors. In addition to counseling, the center also has a team on 24-hour standby to provide rescue services for girls and young women in need.

The new counseling center also plans to have a 24-hour toll free hotline, where anyone in need can call any time of the day or night.

Counseling services are open to all in need irrespective of gender.

Sexual Reproductive Health

This program focuses on the girls knowing themselves and the choices they have. We aim to build their knowledge on sexual and reproductive health. We also train women on the need to use family planning methods to have smaller families that they can manage. Additionally, we focus on educating girls and boys on the dangers of unprotected sex that may lead to teen pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. We put special emphasis on building the students and community awareness on HIV and AIDS, and how they can protect themselves. Mission With A Vision also works on ending stigma around FGM and training the community on the fact that a person can leave a normal life even after contracting HIV.

Clean Water and Sanitation

Mission With A Vision believe that every member of the community deserves clean water. In the past with the support from Opportunity Funds for developing countries we have been able to install many water harvesting projects in schools. We have also been able to build pit latrines. We believe that every school needs to have clean water and sanitation facilities and we target to install water harvesting system and build pit latrines in at least 100 schools in the next five years from 2026.
